Bill..Internet traders are probably a pretty independent bunch of people, hence their investing style..As a representative member of this group, my response will just be to slowly transfer out funds. I have researched responses to these boards, and for me it seems that Datek, at this point in time, is the best choice for my investing style. I have no intention of sueing the company [dislike attorneys in extremis] and will therefore just "vote with my feet". This thread has attracted much attention, and I would suggest continued postings here will have an effect. I agree that there is a feeling of non-recourse here, and that it is true most companies couldn't get away with the kind of abuse heaped on the customers of Etrade... Now, as a sometime investor in EGRP, I have some mixed feelings. It would be a good stock to short, if it hadn't come down so far off it's recent highs...but maybe could be a good LONG. The other Etrade board has just alluded to a takeover or buyout/merger as being something "more" than a rumor. It does make sense that as with any company before such a move, it would boost the revenues and hopefully the stock price by a massive growth campaign...and follow up by slow [and more profitable] customer service, expensive system upgrades, etc...Just a thought. |
