Update on Lynne -

She was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday the 12th. Went to a rehab facility called Park Manor. Not sure about the name - although it's a nice place, it's not a manor. Nor are there any parks nearby.

The facility is quite nice. It was remodeled a year or two ago and has wide well lit halls and the rooms are large and have new furniture. Lynne is sharing a room with a slightly older woman who has a condition known as osteomalasia, basically a condition of brittle bones. Her bones break if you even look at them the wrong way.

First night at the facility, Lynne tried to get up to go to the bathroom and fell on the floor. No major damage. Then, last night, I get a call at 2:00 am. She'd fallen again. Her hip was protruding some so the doc on call (who happens to be a friend of mine) told them to send her to the ER. Off to the ER she went for X-Rays. Nothing broken. However, they confirmed that her lower spine is a mess - disks ruptured or almost nonexistent. Bone on Bone. She is very much at risk for a fracture of the vertabrae in the lumbar region.

No idea yet how long she'll be in the rehab facility. I'd initially thought a week, but I'm thinking 3-4 weeks is more likely at this point.

Insurance has a $500 deductible and then they pay 80%. I still expect my share of this to be pretty substantial.
