Solon,
you ask to what end I'm exploring these cults ?

To find out how the indvidiual was treated and lived among these cults. To find out how liberties were respected and to learn, how the orthodox cults (catholic, orthodox church, Islam mainstream) reacted and what atrocities they comitted when having to address these "cults".

Also I'd like to find out the cultural roots of my current way of life. For example, the market economy would be unthinkable without the Age of Enlightment. Adam Smith for example was highly influenced by the Scottish stream of Englightment and Deism. The Canonical order of 1215 prohibited Catholics to lend money and take interest payments. However, modern society would be unthinkable without banks and the view of money as a derivative good. Here my itnerest is how, led by the Encyclopedistes during the Age of Enlightment, people were able to modify these social norms and overcome the canonical order. The Protestants, especially the reformed wing seems to have had way less problems with financial services than the katholic clerical tradition.

hope this explains my interest
