It's not just the U.S. More than 90% of all oil-producing countries have passed their peak production. And no amount of new technology OR higher oil prices is going to change that.

I agree with CC, we will never produce more than 90 million barrels a day globally, and given current depletion rates the window to produce even that much is closing rapidly.

After next year, the number of giant fields coming into production plummets dramatically. Unless we're in a deep global depression, suppressing demand, things will get very interesting then. LOL
