Bentway, none of those cities looked poor and backward, but that's not the point. Krugman is arguing against a straw man. Paris in particular has both the rich and the poor. But that can't be! Surely a socialist, labor-friendly society like France would have eliminated or drastically reduced poverty! Class warfare should have died with Marie Antoinette! Krugman might want to consider that when arguing his left-wing bullshit. Does HE think Paris is better than NYC? Tenchusatsu
