Yes that is similar to my off the top of my head figure of 10% for electricity transmission losses. Interestingly natural gas and hydrogen pipeline losses are much lower at about 5%. So moving energy by pipeline is a much more efficient energy transmission method.

Rooftop PV's will have to compete with such low tech solutions as trees that shade homes during the summer period and significantly reduce air conditioning loads. Passive solar fits very nicely with trees since the leaves fall off during the winter solar heating period.
