What an incredible few weeks we've had here at Schiff for Senate!
Two weeks ago, clearly seeing the writing on the wall and no longer wanting to prolong the inevitable, Senator Chris Dodd announced that he would not be seeking re-election to the United States Senate.
Since then, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, a big government Democrat who admits that serving in the Senate is his "lifelong ambition," has entered the race. National pundits are trying to portray his election as a foregone conclusion.
True, he starts with a big lead in the polls, but as voters get to know him, they will come to the unmistakable conclusion that he is more of the same! Just as Chris Dodd was a symptom of everything wrong in Washington, his protégé Richard Blumenthal will continue Dodd's legacy of bigger-government, higher taxes, and less freedom!
We have an opportunity to prove the pundits wrong once again. We will show them that a true grassroots army can put a stop to their back-room deals, and bring the power back to where it belongs: into the hands of citizens like you and me!
On Sunday, we'll have our first opportunity to send a message to the elites in Washington who think they can tell us who to vote for. Our friends at Team Schiff, a Facebook group dedicated to electing me to the U.S. Senate, are sponsoring a money-bomb to generate important resources for our campaign. We need your help to fight back against the special interests who are intent on preserving the status quo.
Already, Barack Obama has pledged to support Richard Blumenthal's campaign. We know that he will be able to raise millions of dollars from the same special interests who kept Chris Dodd in the Senate for 30 long, painful years.
