Actually, I think the election was much more about Coakley, the kind of campaign she ran (didn't run), the face she presented to the electorate, than it was about Obama. A strong candidate, Markey, for instance, would have won in this climate. Perhaps even won easily.

There is little doubt, having said that, that the national political situation played a role. But not as strong as it has been presented; nor as strong as it will be presented. If I were the Dems, I would do, as I have said. Pass the healthcare bill. And move on.
