I think this pollster's comment (below) gets at the heart of the matter.

1) The public (nationwide...) is in a sour, sour mood.

2) They are pretty much anti any incumbent, or anyone being perceived as representing the same old order that has brought all these troubles down on our heads.... (Naturally and sensibly enough.)

3) And they want some leader to come along and ATTACK the gangsters/banksters/Plutocrats/and their corrupt captive pet politicians... and they don't *believe* that the Democrats have the balls to do that, (nor do they believe that the GOP ever will either....)

Absent faith in EITHER side of the Republi-Crat duopoly, the public embraces the lesser harms possible with Divided Government (just has I have said many, many times before).

Long live GRIDLOCK!

"Celinda Lake, Coakley's pollster, said her candidate had a 21-point advantage over Brown on who would be more effective at taking on Wall Street. But she said it did not translate into support for Coakley because voters did not believe that Democrats in Washington will follow through and take on those vested interests."
