What makes me sick to my stomach is that I hear on CNN tonight that a doctors group says possibly 20,000 innocent people may die in Haiti A DAY unless we get more supplies and medical capabilities in there...Our country is spending over $10 Billion/month on war games in Iraq and Afghanistan and we can't respond to the Haiti situation in a totally effective way...This makes me very, very sad...I don't think our leaders would ever admit that we have stretched our military to the breaking point with the 2 wars during the last 8 years...If Obama was smart he would have found a way to aggressively reduce our footprint and spending in Iraq and Afghanistan by the end of his first year in office...I would rather see our troops in a position to recharge at home and be able to respond to the increasing number of humanitarian disasters...We spend way too much money on war games and often it doesn't make us any safer -- and it doesn't produce any good will for the United States too...Nobel Prize winner Stiglitz has predicted that Bush's Iraq War will end up costing well over $2 Trillion tax dollars - just think what we could have done with that money to help transform our economy or deal with the debt situation or help 3rd world countries that really need some serious aid (like Haiti).
