Mavercik: We may not see eye to eye re ZOLT's "promises kept" but that's no reason to put unsaid words in my mouth. I never said ZOLT was a shakey company, I simply said that they don't do many times what they say there going to do and then they don't bother to expalin it, when they don't When I look at the company's 10Q it is more than a look at a balance sheet. Increased gross margins relative to others say lot albout whether the company has pricing strength, and whether they seem to be low cost. Capital expenditures tell us a lot about whether the company is realyy investing in plant and equipment. etc etc etc. Where the cash is coming from tells us a lot about the health and growth of the company. In addition to the finanacial data of the 10Q, ZOLT should report on likely future markets or the disappearnece of current ones. they're supposed to lay out the high risk areas - so it's more than scutinizing the books.
I have heard of carbon fiber before. I was an aerospace engineer for over 30 years and was invoved in many of the early uses of carbon fiber and composites both in aircraft and gas turbine engine applications. You're right, cost leadership for any potential application, is vitally important -- but alternative cheaper materials fotr the same application are also a major consideration as well as the ability of the competition (some corporate giants) to overcome or copy your technology. But perhaps the most important critical competitive advantage is "excellent management"; I think, based on my experience, this MAY be a problem for ZOLT.
So we don't agree. No big deal. I hope your right and make a small (big) fortune. If you don't mind however, I'm going to stick around awhile and see where this baby ultimately goes, and in the meantime I'll stick in my two cents worth of opinion as well.
good luck, aa |
