No way. Not in my book young man. No need to waste your expertise while you dawdle around in an RV (although I know that's not you.)

Seems very stupid to me to waste all the experience of the older Americans who haven't gone senile. If you have alzheimer's you can retire, but most other people should be working. In what normal societies of the past do people just stop working because they reached a certain age? That's madness. If you are alive, and can work, you should work. And on top of the fact that it's kind of morally reprehensible to be a parasite (imo)- it's also good for you to work. I saw my dad retire and die. Happens to a lot of men. They never see the "golden years"- because they are dead.

Summer vacation is for children, and it doesn't last forever.

Now do I need to get my ruler out?

And no- I don't expect people not to retire. But I think I would die of boredom without a job I loved. I just can't see dressing my dogs up like children or scrapbooking as much of a life. And quite frankly, I don't want to be so bored I meddle in my kids' lives the way I've seen some elderly female relatives do. Not good. Nor do I want to become so fascinated by my aches and pains that that's the only thing I can talk about. A job keeps you from falling in to many of the evils of old age. An old codger all wrapped up in himself (or herself) makes a pretty small package.
