Exactly the point.

A weak military can take what should be a reasonably brief encounter and turn it into a decade-long problem.

Too bad his other failures got him booted before he could fully implement that plan.

It wasn't his "other failures" dumbass. THIS is precisely the failure that got him the boot. And it is also the reason we ended up in Iraq for years instead of weeks or months as it should have been.
