I'm not sure. However, that chart seems to end on bubble
high. -g-

I would not put too much faith in the CPI numbers,
especially since 1980-s. Gold is likely better in that
respect.

Foreclosed and distressed houses could be bought much below
the cost to rebuild in some areas, and that I think is cheap.
These extreme deals are now gone, but I think they will
probably re-emerge after the government program runs out,
and we'll have a couple more years of pain in the housing
market.

If we get into a currency crisis situation (with rates
soaring), the best approach is to actually buy everything
under the sun. -g-
