Yeah, I think you're right -- but they can be pretty political at times.

It seems to me you begin with the premise of cutting costs, then after you attain some measure of success you can consider the possibility of increasing the scope of coverage. Starting with the premise, "We'll do this for under a trillion dollars for the first decade" all but guarantees failure fiscally.

As a moderate conservative I am not opposed to providing better coverage for more people but if you can't solve the fiscal issues you haven't done anything -- 10, 20 years from now you end up unable to provide adequate coverage for ANYONE.

At any rate I thought we were goners and now there is another chance and I'm very pleased about that.
