but both political parties pretty much suck at the far extremes That's a fairly constant condition in politics. Now, however, the leadership can't find its backside with both hands for the Dems, and the ability of moderates on both sides of the aisle to work on their own to find compromises that will pass, well, that seems to be ancient history. The extremes are only a small part of the problem. Not hard to despair about the fate of the nation when our most august deliberative bodies are reduced to the level of yet another screeching cable "news" cat fight. And better yet, companies can REALLY buy and sell them now. This is why pro sports all went to salary caps. Too much money really craps out any chance for genuine competition.
