Mike Ashby joining ASND as CFO is a huge vote of confidence on the future of the co. As a Pac Bell's CFO, he wouldn't leave such a plum job for a much smaller NW co., if he didn't think that this co. has a chance to rise for his carrer sake. Moreover, unless he'd believe that he stand to reap a windfall on ASND options (a significant part of the pay package) at such a fire sale price, he wouldn't leave Pac Bell. If he would believe so as a CFO of the co., wouldn't you ? Besides, ASND needs a M&A veteran to negotiate the best deal possible. I firmly believe as I have said so in the past that ASND will highly unlikely remain an independent entity by next year.
