What seems to be a bit ironic is that the group that brought the lawsuit "Citizens United" states on its website: Citizens United is an organization dedicated to restoring our government to citizens' control. It appears that its real aims are the opposite. I'm trying to remember the guy behind this group but as I recall he has a history of far right wing nuttery aimed only at running slimmy campaigns against Dems rather than pushing policy aims. Slimmy is the word often used to characterize his work. I'm a bit surprised that Roberts' SC took a rather narrowly defined case and recast it as such a large challenge to tradition. I would assume they waited to find out if they would have Kennedy's vote to do so.
