I was when I was young and dumb. Eventually, people grow up (well, clearly not everyone does grow up). The left appeals to people on an emotional level, the argument on the right is an indirect intellectual one which requires an understanding that good intentions frequently have disastrous consequences for those you intend to "help". It takes a lot of study and experience to give up the kind of emotional satisfaction people get from patting themselves on the back for being the "good guys" as well as a recognition that your actions are causing the very thing you are trying to eliminate. Much easier to simply blame the evil they cause on the opposite end of the political spectrum.
