Joby and All: Miscellaneous comments.

1) Jay Deahna of Morgan Stanley stated in his most recent research note that the Korean DRAM manufacturer is a chemical company called Dong Bu that is doing a DRAM joint venture with IBM. SVGL got the order because of its relationship with IBM.

My notes indicate that Papken said SVGL was just scratching the surface with this initial order and that there would be much more to come from this manufacturer. Did anyone else note this comment?

2) I had further discussions with Russ Weinstock regarding the second SVGL building. He confirmed to me that the second building would add 15 bays, taking SVGL to 50 bays by Oct. '98 and that cycle times of 3 months would result in the often-quoted 200 Micrascan per year run rate. I tried to get him to say whether the building would just house 15 bays, or whether there was room for more. He dodged my question by making a reference to getting beyond the 200/yr plateau by getting cycle times down further because he wanted his engineers to work more efficiently rather than having to have to buy them a new building every time they asked for one. (My notes probably sound a bit fuzzy here, but the conversation was a bit fuzzy...)

3) The order for the RVP 300 is, IMHO, quite favorable. Recent multiple orders for both the Track and now the Thermco products indicate that these divisions are "still in the game." Remember that in FY96 SVGI generated $2.07 in profits with no meaningful profit contribution from SVGL.
