>>It also correctly points out that fascists seek to establish "significant government control over business and labour". Which is of course a very different thing than business and labor establishing control over the government.<<

Yes, I saw that and was surprsied by it. I think part of the problem is that the words communism, socialism and fascism have taken on a variety of colloquial definitions.

Sort of like Republics. A zillion definitions of Republics.

In any event, I do not want corporations or labor unions influencing our government. I think it is safest to just keep democracy in the realm of the people only.

We have seen in the past what monopolies can do. Pretty soon your phone company, cable company, banks, garbage companies, etc will dictate what they want and we little people will have no power to argue with them. It will be their way or the highway.

In Alaska the oil companies are always trying to rob us and have used extensive bribary to do so. And many of our legislators are in jail because to it. 20 of our 60 legislators have taken over $10,000 in campaign contributions. 19 Republicans and one dem. Of the 12 legislators recently indicted for bribory or convicted all were Republicans.

Bill Allen head of VECO turned states evidence and video's showing the legislators taking money out of a fish bowel at the Baranoff hotel, is how they got the convictions.

Very dangerous to let corporations get more powerful than the people. We saw this happen in the early 1900's and the common worker was treated like shit, paid little and forced to work in very unsafe conditions.

Both Teddy Roosevelt and FDR dialed them back to give the average Joe a fair shake.

But the best example of how unfettered power corrupts is to go back and look at the feudal system of the middle ages. The feudal lords lived like kings and the peasants, us, were terribly mistreated and lived in abject poverty always beholden to our "masters". As Dickons wrote about.
