If Republicans championed a Balanced Budget Amendment the liberal media would never report it.

They would definitely report it.

If they did it would be caricatured as an evil draconian risk to the prosperity of America.

Yes definitely at least some, and likely a lot, of the reporting and commentary would portray it that way.
