I do.

Because it has all been tricks and chicanery for *decades* now, with most all of the politicians focused solely on the near-term and willing to shaft future generations while LYING LOUDLY during each election cycle to the public about how great they are 'gonna be at cutting spending'.

It's all lies.

That's why some EXTERNAL and statutory MANDATE is required to force balanced budgets.

And there is no more powerful mandate available in American governance than the US Constitution.

(And, you can give up on trying to sell me that some new 'fearless leader' is going to come along and save us all from the big bad deficit wolf because he is so noble and pure and all that guff.... I've been around a long time and I don't buy it any more.)
