REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:BBND), a leader in digital video networking, announced today that it has extended its market leadership with more than 700,000 QAMs shipped to over 60 service providers worldwide over the life of its edge QAM platforms. Additionally, the company announced commercial availability of its double density BEQ™6200 8:1 QAM, designed to give service providers twice the capacity to address the growing bandwidth demands at the edge of the network, where rack space is at a premium.
“We believe our market-leading BEQ platform gives customers the operational flexibility to implement and manage larger numbers of new and legacy QAMs with the best mix of reliability and density and path to next-generation platforms,” said David W. Heard, chief operating officer, BigBand Networks. “We’re at a tipping point in terms of bandwidth congestion at the network edge. As new applications such as high definition content, niche programming and time-shifted TV come online, congestion at the edge of the network demands denser and more cost efficient QAM platforms. With our continued investment in QAM technology, we can now offer service providers the density they need paired with the manageability and lower cost of ownership.” |
