We already do tax the rich quite heavily.

LOL. The current tax rates for the rich are lower now than when Reagan was president.


1 - The top income tax rate is noticeably higher.

2 - Even if your statement was correct its not a response to the point. "Lower rates than when Reagan was president", does not preclude "tax the rich quite heavily".

3 - Partially because the rich make less effort and spend less money to avoid taxes when rates are lower, the percentage of federal tax revenue paid by the rich has increased in recent years (until the recession, when their income went down).
