The Republicans don't have to turn the Democrats into monsters. The Democrats are doing that to themselves. We may end up with some REAL monsters outta this fiasco, but the Democrats in power won't be able to pawn it off on anybody else because they've been OBLIVIOUS to everybody else. When Reagan came into office the country was in BAD shape. What did he do? He PUSHED the country into WORSE shape to clean up the messes in the system. What did Obama do? He put out a patchwork of stuff and threw a couple more trillion in the pot to keep things on an even keel. Instead of going AFTER the banks and the others that put us into this mess in the first place he just gave them a PASS with taxpayer money. He should have NATIONALIZED the banks and blamed them for EVERYTHING (which they deserved). Now, people can't get loans or jobs any more easily than they did before Obama got elected but the banks are READILY able to hand out $150 Billion in bonuses just like they've always done. When Roosevelt came in he didn't say, "Let's concentrate on helping the bankers". He said let's hold the bankers responsible for this mess and concentrate on the PEOPLE. Apparently Obama wasn't much of a student of Roosevelt. This may be the END of the Democratic Party as we know it. I don't think ANY Democrat is going to win in ANY district below the mason dixon line next November. Even in reliably Democratic Districts I'm not sure the Democrats can win. It's gonna be a bloodbath and I don't see any way the Dem's can turn it around. Koan, can't you guys on the FAR LEFT realize that "half a loaf" is better than NONE. Because of your "petulance" we didn't get Gore and we didn't get Hillary. We got Bush Jr. and now we're looking at SEVERE right wing Republicans for the extended future. You'll just say, "Well, I was right and those fools didn't realize what they were doing." "It won't affect my life." It WILL affect the lives of a LOT of other people though.
