I think Obama's rhetoric needs to be parsed. I think he was talking about taxing the foreign income of U.S. corporations and his catch phrase was "shipping jobs" overseas to give it a populist sugarcoating.

That's a big leap. Overseas profits is not "shipping" jobs, if anything it is creating jobs... somewhere. And in today's world economy, a job somewhere is a consumer somewhere.

The administration is not stupid, or as liberal, or as communist as some would paint them, and I am sure that they know that killing profits kills jobs.

I don't expect any rise in corporate taxation as part of a jobs initiative. There might even be tax breaks for companies that repatriate capital. That would be the smart political thing as well to get Republicans to break ranks.

We'll see.
