Thanks, Glenn. At first blush, he looks like the kind of politician I could get behind. Pragmatism is possibly my most important litmus test, and he appears to be a pragmatist. At the same time, he seems to have come up with some novel ideas, specifically in health care/insurance area. Pragmatists are often quite innovative people, I have noticed, probably a result of "neccessity is the mother of invention".
I'm curious, though, whether or not he is on track to achieve his main goal, which is this:
The 60-year-old won in 2004 by promising to achieve one goal. "Every successful enterprise has a very clear strategic purpose. . . . So, we said, all right, the strategic purpose of our administration is to raise the net disposable income of Hoosiers," which has fallen dramatically in recent decades. "Everything else is just a means to that end."
I presume the recession has somewhat derailed things somewhat, but do you know if the net disposable income of Hoosiers has risen and by how much? |
