During the last WAVO investor teleconference, management said
that the Newscast division had moved from the number 2 spot to
number one in delivering information to the corporate desktop, in
terms of users at over 160,000. They didn't say who number 2 was,
but that DTOP and INDV were their closest competitiors. Newscast
has been growing much faster than either of these two companies,
with a much smaller sales force. This leads me to believe that
their lower rates combined with the powerful Paracel search algorithms
are hard to beat. It would seem this merger is more of a defensive
move. At least I hope so.
