ICE;
Thanks for responding to my questions. And you stayed up until 2:00AM EST to do it! That's dedication. Just a couple of comments in response - and I don't like to use too much jargon, but sometimes it's unavoidable.
1. If something was mobilized in the early Proterozoic but has been stable ever since, would you cosider it a "mobile belt" or "craton" for the purposes of diamond exploration?
2. You mention that you've seen the Ashton core and it is "highly altered". Altered in what way? Metamorphic, weathering, .etc.?
3. It seems we agree that crater facies can be emplaced in thick homogeneous units and that the Fort a la Corne "pipes" represent a different situation than Buffalo Hills.
4. Here are a couple of quotes from the Alberta government website:
"Alberta is favourable for diamondiferous deposits because the province is underlain by large areas of Precambrian crust that acted as cool roots"; and "Alberta may have moderate to high potential for diamondiferous diatremes and vent related deposits"
5. I will not argue with you over Ashtons geochemical methods; but I will give them the benifit of the doubt and accept their classification to the rock type as kimberlite. But your point is well taken.
6. I haven't had time to research the DHK pipe, but thanks for the tip on where to find the info.

Best Regards
P.
