Nuclear loan guarantees on the one hand, nuclear waste storage solution torpedoed and an anti-nuclear activist put on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission: A way to understand the sincerity of Obama's statements about nuclear power is to look at how he has staffed the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He has replaced Bush's NRC Chairman (a strong pro-nuclear guy) with a former Harry Reid anti-nuclear Senate staffer. He has also left two (of the five Commission positions) vacant. There are now three commissioners with two vacancies. There would be a third vacancy except the former chairman has remained "temporarily" on the Commission in order to have at least three Commissioners present for the conduct of business. Doesn't sound like a strong commitment to nuclear power to me . . . corner.nationalreview.com All in all, is there a coherent policy there?
