I tried to watch "Inglourious Basterds," Quentin Tarantino's latest. The first off-putting thing was Brad Pitt with a very phony Southern accent.

What finally made me eject it was the pacing. Long turgid periods of boring conversation, ending in a brief moment of violence. After a while, I tried fast forwarding though the boring part, but even that didn't help.

What has happened is that Quentin has fell in love with himself. And nobody will stop him.
