The GOP never had to directly kill a renewable energy project, because they just stalled the permitting processes through the EPA and land management and cut investments and tax credits to anemic levels. Where that didn't work, they had Senator Inhofe blocking any progress in Congress for the duration of the Bush Administration.

The GOP is the single worst enemy this country has when it comes to our future national security and our oil independence. They'd rather fight the last centuries wars and defend the last centuries energy sources. The only important war right now is the one we're engaged in with China on the Internet, on economics, on renewable energy, and on influence. Al Qaeda is a knat on our ass. China is an elephant in the room with its tusks embedded in our ass.
