Obama has killed the national nuclear waste storage facility, appointed an anti-nuclear activist to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and oh yes, pledged billions in loan guarantees for more nuclear plants. No, I don't see smartness there .... or a coherent policy. It looks like all the decisions were political ones, designed to appeal to various interests. The loan guarantees are an attempt to salvage a climate bill by hoping to attract some Republican support .... the Yucca mountain decision and the appointment of an anti-nuke activist are obvious gifts to his liberal base.
