Walter, I spoke of East Timor being ex portugese.Indonesia was Dutch The British learned from the USA not to oppress their colonies and let them all be free, when they were white, They also learned it about the rest, especially after India, and left most with an infrastructure and civil service that could forestall dictators(not always) All the rest of europe, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Holland etc exploited their colonies for raw materials and kept a "white man" civil service. When they left it usually collapsed into a dictatorship. Bill
