"Seeking novel sensation or studying the nature of existence involves mystery, at least initially."

I agree that many (indeed MOST things) are unknown (at least to me). When I know what is behind the tree or the recipe for that wonderful stew it is no longer a mystery. But there are trillions of trees and more cook books than I can ever read. So my "wonder" comes to me naturally. It comes from IGNORANCE. If I knew everything, I doubt that I would "wonder". What do you think? Wonder the question for a moment? If you get the answer it will be one less thing to wonder about.

Studying the "nature of existence" is just another WONDER FULL question like "what is in that stew" or "do you have a sister". The fact that I wonder the nature of existence more than the other two sample questions is that I can find reasonable answers to the latter two, while the former leaves more room for ignorance (which is to say..."WONDER").

IGNORANCE is always mysterious, young man or woman. Because ignorance swims in unknown waters dark and (possibly) deep. For millions of years it was a mystery how the sun crossed the heavens (was it pulled by horses? Probably). It is not such a mystery anymore to most people but I still believe it might be pulled by horses--and if I tell you why it is possible you will have another "mystery" to "wonder" about.

I think it can be truthfully said that the more aware one is of ignorance, the more "wonder" they will have. The key word here is "aware". Knowledge has been likened to an expanding balloon. The inside is the known and the outside is the unknown. Do you see what happens when the outside surface expands? Yes, truly--IGNORANCE expands with it--and so the sense of "wonder". That is why Einstein and Newton "wondered" more than some. They were far more ignorant than any common peasant.

Do you want to stop "wondering"?? Narrow your thoughts down to sex, shelter, and food. Maslow knew what he was talking about at the level that he knew...
