In the US, you are correct. re-read Chris hedges. i agree with him completely.

I'm sure Chris will be happy to have you as his personal "sock puppet".

But I'm still wondering why, if corporations have so much power, why they spend so much time and money trying to influence the voting public.

Again.. corporations don't vote, people do. Corporations and/or Politicians, cannot "get away with" anything unless the voting public permits them to.

You can blame the corporations all you want. But I blame both the people, as well as the media.

But Mr. Hedges is also clearly MISTAKEN. If there is no level of accountability by public officials to their (voting) constituency, then corporate bribery will run rampant.

A non-democratic society, without a clear rule of law, a free media, and open access to the internet, is nothing more than a Kleptocracy.

After all, why else would those dictators risk everything to become all-powerful within their domain... to be poor?
