Just got this email from Schwab -

We want you to know that we'll be mailing your original Form(s) 1099 for tax year 2009 in mid-February 2010. We're taking this action to help minimize the number of corrected Form(s) 1099 you may receive.

You’ll receive your Form(s) 1099 in mid-February because the type(s) of securities you hold may reflect the following:

Late tax information from securities issuers. One or more of the issuers of your securities may be unable to provide us with tax information in time for mailing Form 1099 at the end of January 2010.
Reallocation of income by securities issuers. Certain income (e.g., dividends, capital gains) from one or more of your securities may need to be reallocated after January 2010. For more details about individual tax reporting, please visit the Schwab Tax Center.
Other important information. In an effort to safeguard your privacy, Schwab is participating in a pilot IRS program that allows us to partially conceal your Social Security number or other identification number on some of the tax forms (1099-Composite, 5498 and 5498-ESA) you receive. Accounts with an identification number taking the form of XXX-XX-XXXX may have the first five digits replaced with asterisks. Accounts with identification numbers taking the form of XX-XXXXXXX are not eligible for the pilot program at this time.

Once your 1099s arrive, it's time to take the next step and start your 2009 tax preparation. To help save money this year, Schwab clients can get up to 35% off TurboTax® products. Get started online, or call 877-566-9125 for more information.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. If you have any questions or need additional information, please call 800-435-4000, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
