A post from Yahoo STX board -

"Desktop PC sales at present are stronger than many observers and industry executives had expected, says Information Network analyst Robert Castellano.
"What happened in the last quarter was a big rush to desktop PCs," Castellano said.
He says the surge helped Seagate more than Western Digital, because Seagate is stronger in desktop PC drives and Western stronger in notebook drives.
O'Malley says his company has found strength in China, for a reason that may surprise many people. He says the full-size desktop PC is something of a status symbol in that nation, as compared with smaller notebooks or netbooks.
"They want the (larger) 3.5-inch disk drives there for desktop PCs," O'Malley said"

Asian demand is very high. And then US enterprise demand will kick in mid-year, as Seagate's CEO points out, and transition into what he calls a "monster" year for 2011. So Asian demand will be big in the near term, and then hand the baton to US corporate demand in the mid-term. And, I think, continue to surprise many anal ysts.
