Massachusetts Senator-elect Scott Brown, a Republican, is asking that the election results in his state be immediately certified.

Brown had initially planned on being sworn into office next week, but has decided he wants to speed things up and be sworn in tomorrow in order to be present for some some key senate votes.

"He wants certification to occur immediately," said his lawyer in a letter sent today to Gov. Deval Patrick and State Secretary William Galvin.

The letter points out that the election results from the state were officially transmitted today, making Brown eligible for immediate certification.
