Unfortunately for the GOP, scientists believe the universe is $13.75 billion years old. I guess that kind of puts a hole in the Evangelical Creationist theory that the Heavens, the earth, and all life is only 10,000 years old. Oops. I'm sure you GOP members will tell me that this is part of the global conspiracy of scientists against religion though, just like you all believe global warming is a giant conspiracy of scientists as well.
