This shows your own complete ignorance. Roads are all about commerce. They are the veins through which this economies lifeblood flows. They get people to and from work and they allow packages to be delivered. Add to that other modes of transport including railroads and airlines and you should be getting the picture. Without transportation, our economy would be crippled.

The electric grid is the vascular structure for delivering the energy that powers our entire economy. It's analagous. Our government is involved because smart Americans recognize that our economy needs national transportation network, a national electricity network, and a national Information network (the Internet) to keep our economy moving and vibrant. Those are all very key infrastructural elements.

For you not to recognize that just shows the depth of your ignorance.
