Bull. They don't know that they're victims.

All those small investors with shares in gold mining startup ABCD, which went bankrupt in 1997? They don't know that they were holding an IOU instead of shares. They don't know that a counterfeiter was on the other end of the trade.

All of those small investors who held AGPH (this time, the ticker is -- was -- real) and got scared and sold as the shares plunged before that last public offering? They don't know that counterfeit "desked" shares were driving the price south, shares that would be covered with some of the newly minted ones.

In pre-reg FD days, investors who did a minimum of research could avoid these situations. It was only true rubes that got eaten alive, and they're still completely unaware that they were taken.
