Paul, News only!!! If you don't agree with H&Q, why don't you write your post and mail it to H&Q. You have your dream INTC's figurs and I have my sources to support me(I need to say sorry for non news on this thread. If I don't answer Paul, Paul is going to...)
From WS Report - What outsides look like. "But in recent years, IBM has become a big manufacturer of non-Intel chips to several companies, including CYRX, and AMD, at a time when major computer manufacturers are increasingly willing to consider chips aren't from Intel. As a result, IBM's Microelectronics business saw chip sales to outsiders soar to about $3.5 billion last year, up from $700 million in 1993.
From WS Report - This year's sudden surge in sales of personal computers priced below $1,000. "Until just recently, the percentage of U.S. households that own a computer has been holding steady at around 40%. Now some analysts say that figure could grow to 60% over the next several years." "The sales of $1,000 PCs so far this year continue at the same pace, about five million of the new cheaper model will be sold by year end, according to estimates by ABN Amro analyst David Wu. That would be about 40% of the U.S. retail computer market units." According to H&Q source, Intel is going to throw the towel on this 40% market.
From Comments heard on the Internet's investment newsgroup. "The word is low-end machines(under $1,000) are selling very well."
From CPQ's third-qtr report - units sales jumped 54%. In part because of soaring sales of its $999 PCs According to H&Q source, INTC is going to throw the towel on this below $1,000 PCs.
When you evaluate the stocks, look at the future, not the past.
Best wishes
