My friend is only in her 50's and was never as I understand told that Hospice was end of life care. The doctor never said I am prescribing end of life care----that I expect you to die.

It seems that Hospice according to some I have talked with in the Northern Virginia area is now being used to replace Home Health Care that was used 10 years ago apparently to facilitate living longer----- but now that Home Health Care is under Hospice the Home Health Care is being eliminated as a stage for helping people survive and for some to live productive lives.

Quite frankly, I think that Hospice was a premature step and the medications were excessive and were what brought her down.
