My wife made me proud!!
Today it was my wife's turn. She could'nt get in online like the rest of us and after waiting for what seemed like hours on the phone she got a lame excuse from the Etrade Operator suggesting "please shut down your PC for 5-10 mts and then try getting back into the Etrade site" (what an ignorant lot have we entrusted our money to?!!), hearing which she packed baby into the car and drove straight to the Palo Alto office (Bay Area) and gave the clerks in the fromt desk a earfull in front of a few other customers. She then proceeded to transfer her account right away by driving to the Fidelity office and opening an account there. The paperwork will take a few days of course, but hey, bottom line is that she took care of Etrade there and then, serving notice that nobody messes with my missus!! :-)

By the way I will follow suit tomorrow and clear my Etrade account too.

A sidenote about Fidelity: When asked by my wife as to if they experienced significant access problems last week they frankly admitted that they did have telephone call-in delays but NOT online Web delays! Also, in the past I used to use Fidelity before the online days, and although I used to pay hefty comissions, their service was impeccable and prompt. Thankfully, we will not be shocked by their new comission fees.
And so we have come a full circle, back to Fidelity, thanks to experiencing the worst brokerage of all!!

I hope more folks send Etrade a message like my wife did!
