(WZPS) For four years, the Jewish Agency's Aliya 2000 program has been helping potential new immigrants from the former Soviet Union overcome one of their greatest fears - that of unemployment.
The program takes Israeli employers to the FSU to seek out and hire newcomers in a wide range of occupations, including bus and truck drivers, computer systems analysts, welders, aeronautical engineers, building workers and mechanics.
During 1996 alone, some 6,000 immigrants reached Israel through Allya 2000. A smilar number is expected in 1997.
