I agree with you to a certain extent. Gingrich's new manifesto is a great example of a GOP member thinking clearly about where to take the party next. I can respect and even get excited about that. But when I am forced to listen to idiots like Backmann or Palin talk about Obama being communist and that the GOP is in a war against Democrats, then I lose patience. I think it's fine to have multiple parties in this country, but those parties need to remember that they work for all Americans, not for just a portion of them. And when they declare war on another party, then they are declaring war on a portion of Americans.

I want compromise and progress, not bile and hatred coming from the GOP. That's why I support people like Gingrich but despise people like Bachmann and Palin.

As I've said before, the last honorable Republicans were Bush Sr and Gingrich. The new generation of GOP members are really shadows of the previous generation.
