Two separate issues. One is about cyber security and the other is about ceding US control of DNS. I'm all for cyber security and am very against ceding US control over DNS and any aspect of the Internet. In fact, when the US licensed out InterNIC to ICANN, I got really worried, because it was a step in the direction of our government ceding control to private industry, which could eventually lead to a foreign company or country gaining control of portions or all of the Internet. I don't give a rat's ass about global desires to jointly control the Internet. This is one area where we should stand 100% firm. We never waiver in our support for Israel. We should never waiver in our support for control of the Internet. It is the very foundation of commerce and the free flow of ideas, which is fundamental to US success and our ability to export our way of life. We need to understand that it is our most powerful weapon against the very worst actors on the global stage. Giving up any aspect of control over it is the very worst idea I've heard in a long time.
