you jump to assumptions, pricing controls has nothing to do with establish a pricing structure. a price structure is an agreed value, price, contract, volume of purchase , discounts etc etc etc. no one suggested stopping foreign sales it was about how the logic was developed. again an international pricing structure , should be discussed and agreed upon and we should be firm about opening up our market to price competition. We should allow gov etc to get the prices available for its citizens. International should be put on notice, we are no longer paying for their discounted drugs. i doubt R & D will suffer. more likely better cost controls will also be implemented at drug companies.. perhaps cut backs in national advertising, sales expenses , contributions to congress to lobby for favorite status in health plans.
